Course Design Series: Session I
Beginning with the end in mind: What do you want your students to know and what do you want them to be able to do with what they know? This session introduces the integrated course design process and gets participants immediately engaged with the first step of writing student-centered learning outcomes. We will discuss how well-constructed student learning outcomes can clarify your expectations to students and how the outcomes help you design assessments, ultimately leading to improved student learning. Participants will identify the situational factors that inform course design such as pre-requisites, classroom layout, etc. During the session, participants will have an opportunity to write/revise and get feedback on their course learning outcomes. Please bring course materials or a syllabus for a course for which you are preparing.
